The Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero has challenged the decision by the Our Power of People Party (OPPP) to sack him.
The monk filed a petition in the Supreme Court today challenging the move.
The Our Power of People Party (OPPP) had recently informed the Election Commission that it had removed the Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero.
The party had nominated the monk in December last year to fill its only seat (National List) in Parliament.
The Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thero was nominated to fill the seat following a dispute in the party. (Colombo Gazette)
