Sri Lanka to import gas from Thailand

Sri Lanka has decided to import gas from Thailand to meet its urgent demand.

Cabinet approval has been obtained to import gas from Thailand’s Siam Gas Company.

The Chairman of State owned Litro Gas, Vijitha Herath said that Siam Gas has agreed to supply gas to Sri Lanka.

He said that the Thai company has also agreed to provide gas with a 10% reduction in supply charges.

Sri Lanka is currently facing a serious shortage of gas, mainly owing to a shortage of USD to purchase gas. (Colombo Gazette)
