A Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment has been created through a gazette notice issued by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has issued an Extraordinary Gazette notice amending an earlier gazette to include the new Ministry.
The departments and institutions which will fall under the Ministry of Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment includes the National Committee on Women, Sri Lanka Women’s Bureau, Department of Probation and Childcare Services, National Child Protection, Authority, National Secretariat for Early Childhood Development, Department of Samurdhi Development, Saubhagya Development Bureau, National Institute of Social Development and Rural Development Training and Research Institute.
The Social Security Board, National Council for Persons with Disabilities, National Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities, Department of Social Services, the National Council for Elders and National Secretariat for Elders and the Kidney Fund will also fall under the new Ministry.
