Several former Ministers in the Government have rejected Cabinet portfolios.
Former Ministers Sarath Weerasekara, Dullas Alahapperuma, Bandula Gunawardena and Jeevan Thondaman have decided not to accept any Cabinet posts.
Meanwhile former Ministers Namal Rajapaksa, Chamal Rajapaksa, Basil Rajapaksa, and Shasheendra Rajapaksa have also not accepted any posts.
According to reports former ministers Gamini Lokuge, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Johnston Fernando and Rohitha Abeygunawardena will also not be accepting Cabinet positions.
Some of the former Ministers are of the opinion that the new Cabinet must consist of a collective of Parliamentarians.
However, the opposition has so far refused to be part of a National Government. (Colombo Gazette)
