A fuel pass has been introduced to ensure a weekly fuel quota for motorists.
Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that the ‘National Fuel Pass’ will guarantee a weekly fuel quota.
Accordingly one vehicle will be registered under one NIC and a QR code will allocated once the vehicle chassis number and other details are verified.
He said that fuel will be issued 2 days of the week according to the last digit of the number plate using the QR code.
The pass is being introduced by the Information and Communication Technology Agency and the Ministry of Power and Energy.
More details on the manner on which the pass can be obtained will be announced later today. (Colombo Gazette)
