Mobile phone confiscated from businesswoman in remand

A mobile phone has been confiscated from businesswoman Thilini Priyamali, who is in remand custody over the alleged misappropriation of funds.

The Prisons Department said that the mobile phone was confiscated by the Prison Emergency Response Unit during a search carried out at the women’s section of the Welikada Prison.

She was arrested over a complaint received from a businessman pertaining to the misappropriation of well over Rs 200 mn.

Thilini Priyamali operated a luxury office on the 34th floor of the World Trade Center in Colombo.

She has been remanded till 19th October by the Fort Magistrate pending further investigations. (Colombo Gazette)
