The transportation of fuel has been temporarily suspended owing to the Vesak holiday.
Fuel transporters said that fuel was last distributed to fuel sheds last night (Saturday).
They said that fuel will not be distributed today (Sunday) as it is a holiday.
Fuel transporters said that every year Vesak is considered a holiday and even the distribution of fuel does not take place.
Long queues were seen at fuel stations around the country today to purchase fuel.
However, fuel transporters said that even if fuel runs out today fresh stocks will not be transported as it is a holiday. (Colombo Gazette)
